Trauma Medical Director – SSM Health Dean Medical Group—Madison, WI

The Opportunity:
SSM Health Dean Medical Group, a 450 physician multi-specialty group, is actively recruiting for a Trauma Medical Director. The physician will be responsible for elevating our current Level III Trauma program to an ACS Level II Trauma Center. Duties will include maintaining the hospital as an ACS verified Trauma II Center, growing and solidifying the network of referring facilities, supporting the hospital's strategic goals and objectives, ensuring continuing compliance with the American College of Surgeons and other regulatory body survey requirements, and actively participating in process improvement and medical education efforts. The Trauma Medical Director will be directly responsible for the planning, implementation, monitoring, and improvement of clinical processes and systems related to the Trauma program. This position also requires the performance of clinical duties as a Surgeon, including Trauma Surgery and Trauma call.

Qualified candidates must be board certified in General Surgery, have 5 years of experience caring for traumatized patients, and be ATLS certified. They must also have experience in operations management, Trauma program design and implementation, and demonstrated experience in clinic or administrative leadership. Preferred qualifications include previous experience as a Trauma Medical Director, fellowship training in Trauma or Surgical Critical Care, certification in Surgical Critical Care from the American Board of Surgery, and be an ATLS instructor. The position will be 50% administrative and 50% clinical. SSM Health Dean Medical Group will offer a competitive financial and fringe benefits package.

The Hospital:
SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital has been serving South Central Wisconsin since 1912. The hospital is a 350-bed tertiary care and referral center with a full spectrum of medical and surgical services. In addition, the hospital has a 12-bed MICU and a 15-bed SICU.
