Role Purpose:
The Regional Chief Financial Officer – Physician and Ambulatory Operations will provide strategic direction, financial expertise and leadership while serving as the primary financial executive leader for the assigned region. This position ensures consistency and standardization of financial information and implementation of best practice performance standards for financial operations. This position ensures high performing revenue cycle results for the Medical Group in coordination with the System VP – Medical Group Revenue Cycle.
Responsibilities:
    • Serves as the primary financial leader for the St. Louis region's medical group.

    • Provides expertise and support for medical group financial operations to the Regional Finance Executives in the Southern Illinois, Mid Missouri and Maryville regions. Works with those regional executives to ensure that financial team is maximizing its effectiveness to the individual campuses and to the region as a whole.

    • Interviews, hires, directs, develops, and evaluates direct reports.

    • With consultation from Human Resources, makes decisions on the discipline and/or discharge of direct reports.

    • Meets monthly with team's review policies, procedures and addresses concerns.

    • Leads financial performance reviews for the St. Louis medical group operations team and supports the same activities across IL/MO.

    • Serves as the primary liaison to the System VP, Finance – IL/MO regarding regional financial issues. Works directly with System VP, Finance – IL/MO to provide high quality financial services that are value added to the region.

    • Coordinates activities of IL/MO finance directors to provide consistent and accurate financial reporting and information across IL/MO.

    • In collaboration with System VP-Medical Group Revenue cycle, oversees centralized billing and collection functions for the St. Louis region's medical group.

    • Oversees system-wide and IL/MO finance efforts to coordinate and streamline workflows and reporting to provide value added financial services to the medical group.

    • Understands the Mission and Values of SSM Health Care and Franciscan Sisters of Mary

    • Ability and desire to integrate CQI principles and tools into work processes.

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Requirements:
    • Master's degree is required (normally acquired through a graduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related discipline)
    • 7 years of increasingly responsible experience in Financial Management, principally in health care required and preferably in a provider environment. Experience in non-provider health care setting (insurance, consulting) can be considered in lieu of provider experience.
